Product Description
The Behringer BXL1800 Ultrabass is a 180-Watt, 2-channel bass workstation with an original BUGERATM 12-inch speaker, Behringer's FBQ Spectrum Analyzer, and an onboard Compressor and Ultrabass Processor. When a stack is too high and a practice amp just doesn't cut it, then this truly affordable wedge-shaped Bass Workstation with a 12-inch special high-impact cone speaker is exactly right! With 180 Watts of output horsepower, your performance will never run out of breath. And it's fully loaded: one clean and one distortion channel with full control, a 7-band EQ with a revolutionarySee-What-You-PlayFBQ frequency indicator that immediately shows you which bass frequency corresponds with which fader on your EQ to allow you instant sound shaping, a switchable Ultrabass subharmonics processor and a compressor with adjustable threshold are just a few of the feature highlights.A musical limiter guarantees playing without distortion on the clean channel even at the highest volume levels, plus Behringer has included a dual footswitch for channel select. Using external FX units is easy with the dedicated FX insert, and you can use the separate headphone output whenever you need to keep your music just to yourself.Behringer BXL1800 Ultrabass FeaturesPowerful 180-Watt 2-channel bass workstation in wedge-shaped cabinetOriginal BUGERATM 12-inch special high-impact cone speakerClean channel with dedicated Gain controlDistortion channel with dedicated Gain, Shape and Level controlsUltra-musical, active 7-band graphic EQ with FBQ Spectrum AnalyzerRevolutionarySee What You PlayFBQ frequency indicator for instant sound shapingSwitchable Ultrabass subharmonics processor for unbelievable low-end powerIntegrated Compressor smoothens out volume peaks when playing dynamic slapsMusical opto-limiter for ultimate volume without distortionDual footswitch for Channel s

2 out of 5 stars Be careful with Behinger   May 4, 2010

This is the second BXL1800 I have owned. The first one was perfect. It's small enough to practice with and has balanced XLR out for playing live. Like I said, the first one was perfect. Unfortunately, I sold the first one and ordered another one. The new one was great for a few weeks, then it started sounding distorted, even at very low volume. No amount of adjusting or EQing could fix it, so I decided it must be a bad speaker and ordered a replacement. Upon removing the original speaker, I noticed that it has a 4 Ohm speaker (very odd for a single speaker setup), and that the speaker is only rated for 120 Watts! Why would they put a speaker into a cabinet that cannot handle the amount of power that the amp is supplying?

All I can say is be careful with Behringer. They are low cost, but apparently not always good quality.
