Product Description The Line 6 HD400 rack mount bass head, much like its LD400 Pro combo brother, offers LowDown tone in a powerful, rack-mountable amplifier. Boasting 5 fully adjustable essential tones, including Rock, Clean, R&B, Grind, and Brit, the LowDown HD400 amp head offers pro players uncompromising power, extraordinary versatility, and commanding tonal definition. The Line 6 HD400 bass amp head also comes with a crucial set of 5 effects, including a studio-quality compressor based on the immortal Teletronix LA-2A from the 60's, the Smart Control FX Envelope Filter, Octaver, Chorus, and a full-featured bass Synth with fully adjustable parameters. The recipe for one great gig after another, night after night, the Line 6 HD400 is a bass amp head that features an array of ins, outs, and hardware like two NL4M-series Speakon speaker outputs, a balanced XLR direct output with exclusive A.I.R. processing, a 1/4" preamp output, an FBV jack, and rock-solid construction specifically designed to withstand life on the road.Amp Models: Clean Inspired by the Eden Traveler, this model is all about clean, funk, and fusion bass tone. It'll give you warm lows and punchy highs.R&B Inspired by a '68 B-15 Flip Top, this model is a tribute to those clean, fat, bass tones of the late 60's and early 70's. It is the kind of tone you hear on most Motown recordings, as played by the pioneering young bassist James Jamerson.Rock This model is inspired by the '74 Ampeg SVT which has appeared on innumerable recordings and arena stages worldwide. Now, all the tone of the head and 300-pound behemoth 8x10 cab is available without having to lookup a chiropractor.Brit Based on a '68 Marshall Super Bass, this model delivers the kind of overdriven bass sounds brought to us by late '60s British rock pioneers like Cream and The Who.Grind As the name would suggest, this is for the modern rock sound of the late '90s and the new millennium popular in bands like Alice in Chains, Mudvayne, and Rage Against The Machine. | Customer Reviews: Tone You Can Have a Great Time With January 25, 2010 Bass Monster I am a fairly active musician playing several performances and am in the studio recording a few days a week. I own several bass rigs including a full tube amp, a solid state amp, and a tube hybrid. So I have a fair assortment to compare it to. I bought the amp not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. I just unplugged from my tube amp and turned on the Line 6 and was not at all impressed. However, when I got it home and began to tweek it a bit, I found it to be great sounding and a lot of fun to use... While it is a modeling amp and the amps you a are simulating will sound better. You can get some great tones without bringing the house down......Very easy to use and adjust to get a sound that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Also the ability to store a few pre-sets is cool. Works great for switching guitars, you can even set up volume changes that you experience between different instruments..(as in passive to active or 4 and 5 strings). It would also be nice to have better control of the effects. The biggest draw back that I did notice is that it may not be powerful enough for a medium to large room. Although the direct line out sound is real good.I think that I would like to have more power in the event that I need it. So I'm going to get the HD750 to have 750 watts just in case. I hate to run it flat out. My main amps stay in the studio because they are too large to move unless I have to. This head will be my new amp of choice for playing out locally... It weighs roughly 30lbs. I don't want to leave you thinking that it isn't loud enough... It's extremely loud and I'm sure can perform at volumes that you shouldn't be playing at anyway! But for the price difference between the 400 & 750, I would rather have the unnecessary power on hand..... This amp is a great value for the money... Buy it!!!
